National Center of Quality Inspection and Testing on Furniture is the first authorized national inspection center on furniture by General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China (AQSIQ). It conducts product inspection, standard establishment and revision, R&D of testing equipment and scientific research, and takes the leading position in its professional strength in China.

As the chief secretariat of National Technical Committee for Furniture of Standardization Administration of China, the center is also the undertaking unit of National Center of Furniture Standardization and plays a main role in establishing and revising national and industrial standards. National Center of Quality Inspection and Testing on Furniture, the member of ISO/TC136 Furniture Technical Committee, took the lead in introducing standards and testing methods of furniture physical and chemical properties published by organizations like ISO nationwide.

Inspection Capabilities

The inspection capabilities include wood furniture, metal furniture, upholstered furniture, glass furniture, blackwood furniture, kitchen furniture, laboratory furniture, bathroom furniture, office furniture, kids furniture, furniture-used leather, furniture hardware, artificial boards, wood, floor, tree species, building wooden doors, wooden windows, timber lines, household wooden stairs. Its inspecting qualifications cover nearly 80 items, namely visual inspection, chemical and physical testing, mechanical performance and harmful substance inspection.

Scientific & Technological innovations

The center is one of the first institutes that conducted independent R&D of furniture testing equipment which were promoted and used by a number of national furniture quality inspection agencies, technical research institutes, colleges and enterprises and has filled the blank of domestic furniture industry and obtained several patents. The center has organized or participated in establishing and revising dozens of national standards and industrial standards. It has been awarded National Standardization Prizes and Shanghai Standardization Superior Academic and Technological Prizes several times.
